Is free travel a dream?

Is free travel a dream?

What does every traveler really want? Travel for free, what questions. The question is another and not only because it is a question of lowering a desire in practical reality: to obtain different results we need to look at it with different eyes.

That is, to disturb Albert Einstein, “Follia is always doing the same thing expecting different results”. This means learning to look at things through new perspectives, turning and turning a problem like a Rubik’s cube imagining unforeseen development possibilities and (almost always) admitting that you can’t see beyond your nose.

The world has never been as small as today. It is not by chance that the English low-cost definition comes from the UK world, when British Airways in 1995 created the low-cost division Go Fly, which will fly from London Stanstead airport starting in 1998. Bankruptcies, sudden collapses, dizzying promotional launches: the philosophy of low cost has however marked success on a global scale; in recent years it has multiplied travel opportunities and the possibility of doing so at low cost.

According to IATA, the International Air Transport Association, June 30, 2018, was the day with the most intense air traffic, with 202,517 scheduled flights: one take-off every half second. In the last ten years, civil air traffic has shown an increase of around 75%.

Compared to our parents and grandparents, there is no doubt that today we have many more opportunities to travel through different countries and cultures, to feel close to home even when we are far away, to move more and why not, even to transform a holiday into a new job . Traveling is easier than in the past, so what is the problem? The first enemy to fight has to do with our
beliefs.
Yes, because often, despite the many travel experiences that more and more people share online, many of us believe that traveling … costs too much: traveling is an unnecessary expense.

But really it is?
Sometimes a holiday can also turn into an opportunity to make contact with a place and evaluate job opportunities, leave CVs and schedule interviews, so be careful to throw away the idea of a trip as superfluous during a difficult period. “To travel? Beautiful, but at the moment no, I have to give up ”. This is a more frequent statement and is often used as a justification for excessively high monthly expenses.
But are we really sure? Let’s try to look at the issue from a different point of view and rattle off some
solution you hadn’t thought of.

1 Your priorities

Do three jobs, but don’t make it to the end of the month.

It can happen that you experience a difficult time, having to face unexpected expenses or living in a country where having a fair salary for your work is not at all easy. Survival is not a simple thing, we all agree.
Be careful though. Try to make a list, for at least a month, of all your expenses.

Where does your money actually go?
The answer may surprise you.
Often we do not really realize how we manage our budget and, whether large or small, we live in constant trouble.
Rate for a new car, expenses for gasoline and food (by the way, where do you shop?), Go out to the restaurant, get dressed … okay, as long as you’re aware of it. To carry out a project we need to make a list and choose our priorities: this means creating a space for growth for an idea, in daily actions and not just in words.

2 Start traveling … with the mind

Traveling is easier than in the past, so what is the problem?
The first enemy to fight has to do with our beliefs. Yes, because so many of us deeply believe that traveling is not for everyone: it is among the unnecessary expenses and often it is what we renounce most frequently.
But really it is?
Sometimes a holiday can also turn into an opportunity to make contact with a place and evaluate job opportunities, so be careful to throw away the idea of a trip as superfluous during a difficult period. Could it come at the right time and help you get to know new people and contexts, leave CVs, even schedule interviews?
Beautiful, but at the moment no, I have to give up ”.
This is a more frequent statement and is often used as a justification for excessively high monthly expenses. If this is your doubt, go straight to the next point.

3 Decide on your priorities

Do three jobs, but don’t make it to the end of the month. It can happen that you experience a difficult time, having to face unexpected expenses or living in a country where having a fair salary for your work is not at all easy.

Survival is not a simple thing, we all agree.

To carry out a project we need to make a list and choose our priorities.
This means creating a space for growth for an idea, in daily actions and not just in words. And sometimes it means may be giving up something for a project that will make us happy. Only you can know what you really want. What are you willing to give up for what you want?

4 Choose the right time

Dates can make a significant difference in the travel economy.
Of course, the work logic still often forces us to follow a relentless routine.
People work all year and then go on vacation at specific times, for example in the weeks between Christmas and the end of the year. Not surprisingly, the tickets of many airlines have a significantly lower cost a few days later, when, alas, many of us have already stamped the card.

Is it possible to change?
Every story is in itself. If you work freelance, you could really think of completely reversing the time limit of travel, or even living and working by moving, but even those who work with a company can find solutions that can reconcile prices, departures and happiness at work.

5 Working abroad

Using a part of time for a paid or voluntary job can really open up considerable possibilities. If the journey you dream of is a one-way ticket, consider looking for a connection of this type. The idea of working abroad for a trip is different than the idea of a transfer.

If in the second case you are often more inclined to make a targeted choice in order to satisfy the skills acquired over the years, when it comes to a journey you can let yourself go and follow the heart. Taking a few weeks working in an association that deals with animals or ecology, or immersed in nature with a seasonal job, such as fruit collections, is a way to have an extra budget and experience, of short duration, which will remain the great memory of a decidedly energetic, inventive and meeting journey.

Not to mention the additional effect, or a clear improvement in your ability to express yourself and converse in another language, self-confidence and trust.

6 The philosophy of exchange

Yes, it is a real philosophy, an attitude. If you have a home and you are sufficiently flexible you can start by finding connections with those who live elsewhere: today the home swap is very used and guaranteed.
The technology comes in handy because thanks to referenced sites it is possible to know and get feedback on who will come to your home. A question you can ask yourself is … what do you like to do? Proposing your work is not just a way to receive free or discounted room and board: it is much more because it will allow you to get to know a territory in depth, through those who live and work there, weave bonds of friendship, feel really part of a place.

You will be reloaded and stronger than your resources. Or who knows, you may even find that what you started as a game has all the cards to be the beginning of a new life.
